Harvard Square Homeless Shelter
Every season, we seek to provide housing for up to 18 people at a time, case management for their road to housing, and all the other forms of support needed to go from being homeless to getting back to long-term housing.
Hello everyone,
My name is Steven Birkner (Class of 2028), and I'm from the great state of Texas. I hope you're having a wonderful summer!
I currently serve as a student director for the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter (HSHS), a student-run organization in Cambridge that provides emergency housing, case management, and other essential support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Each season, we are able to house up to 18 guests while helping them work toward stable, long-term housing and security.
To continue this important work, we rely on the generosity of community members and supporters. I am reaching out to share my fundraising page and ask you to consider making a donation. Every contribution, regardless of size, goes directly toward ensuring that HSHS can continue providing year-round shelter and support to those in need.

Our current fundraising goal is $5,000, and we are just $2,500 away from reaching it.
The support I received from my home Harvard Club, the Harvard Club of San Antonio, inspired me to become involved with HSHS and begin volunteering with the shelter last year. Because of that experience, I hope members of this club will consider supporting this impactful student-run Harvard program, which not only serves our guests but also enables Harvard students to make a meaningful difference in the community.
